Protecting nature together for 70 years

Thanks to your support we’re celebrating 70 years of protecting nature in Victoria.

The story of the conservation movement in Victoria is rich in moral courage, passion, and dogged persistence.

It’s a story of years of debates, decades of protests and public meetings and generations of community action.

When we began Victoria had no national park legislation and only 13 national parks.

Today, largely due to our efforts, we have 45 national parks, 26 state parks, 13 marine national parks, 11 marine sanctuaries and other areas protected.

You’ve helped achieve great things throughout our history.

Now we need your help to tackle the next big challenges so we can continue to enjoy our incredible natural world.
