About the Victorian National Parks Association

VNPA advocates for evidence-based policy to safeguard wildlife, habitat and protected areas. We inspire connections with nature through citizen science, activities, community action and education.

We are an independent, non-profit, non-government, and membership-based charity. We’re an incorporated association with membership open to all like-minded people.

Our social media guidelines

The goal of our community is to foster a positive and supportive space for discussions about nature issues in Victoria. We use our social media channels to communicate our work, educate our community and share opportunities to become involved.

To create a respectful and inclusive environment, we’ve established the following guidelines for community interactions. We celebrate diversity and want everyone to feel welcome. When incidences occur that contravene these guidelines, we reserve the right to remove/ban the responsible accounts.

By following these guidelines, you contribute to creating a space where everyone feels valued and can engage in meaningful conversations.

Be respectful, constructive and inclusive:

  • Keep discussions focused on conservation-related topics and issues.
  • Language can impact the tone and mood of a conversation, please choose words carefully. Treat all community members with kindness and respect, regardless of their opinions or backgrounds.
  • We encourage participation in positive actions for conservation, sharing success stories, initiatives, and opportunities for positive change.
  • Encourage open dialogue and seek common ground whenever possible. If you disagree with someone, express your viewpoint in a constructive manner.
  • Refrain from using offensive or discriminatory language, personal attacks, or any form of harassment or content that promotes hate speech, violence, or any form of offensive material. Do not engage in trolling, spamming, or any behaviour intended to disrupt the community.
  • Support your statements with credible sources and verifiable facts, challenge misinformation respectfully by providing accurate information and sources.
  • Do not share personal information about yourself or others without consent, or post content that invades someone’s privacy, including screenshots of private conversations.
