REPORT 2021 |

This report was commissioned by Victorian National Parks Association and Save Western Port Woodlands.

The investigation was undertaken to gain insight into the conservation values and ecological significance of the string of reserves and remnant bushland across the eastern side of Western Port Bay, including the former Holden Proving Ground.

The report found they contain some of the last remaining native vegetation in this heavily cleared region, and provide critical habitat for a number of threatened species and Ecological Vegetation Classes.

This indicates the conservation significance of the Western Port Woodlands and the importance of maintaining or improving their integrity and connectivity.

However, the report also found this wildlife corridor under threat from sand mining.
