VNPA is supportive of moves to transition to more renewable energy sources and away from fossil fuels, however we are eager to ensure that the impacts on biodiversity are avoided and minimised early on in the process.
Our submission highlights the need for a framework to oversee the impacts on seascapes and wildlife, with criteria that identifies no-go areas to protect marine national parks and wildlife migratory, feeding or breeding areas.
This would help guide offshore wind developers in the early stages of site identification.
