In 2019, we joined the community to monitor for endangered Southern Brown Bandicoots in residential estates around the Royal Botanic Gardens in Cranbourne. Between November and December 2019 we ran 4 community spotlighting evenings in four different areas and also placed wildlife motion-detection cameras on ten properties to see where the bandicoots were living in backyards.
A project report is available below.
Thank you to our fabulous partners for making this project a success – Charlotte Fletcher , Bandicoot Outreach Officer at the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria and Dr Sarah Maclagan from the Southern Brown Bandicoot Recovery Group – and to the Hazel and Arthur Bruce Bequest fund for kindly funding this project.
