NatureWatch – wildlife monitoring at Mount Cole

Join our overnight expeditions into the forests of Mount Cole aka the soon to be Mount Buangor National Park (20km west of Ballarat). This is our second year surveying the recovery of threatened wildlife after recent fires.
During the day, you’ll help set up wildlife cameras and audio recorders and count recovering populations of Critically Endangered Mount Cole Grevilleas. In the evening we’ll go spotlighting, searching for nocturnal wildlife like gliders and possums.
The details:
We’ll be camping in the forest at a bush campground with limited facilities.
Camping is self-sufficient, you’ll need to provide your own transport, bush style camping equipment, food and water.
All training is provided.
A medium level of fitness is required for walking up to 1 km off track through dense regrowth forests with fallen logs and sticks to navigate.
Please register separately for each adult. This activity is not suitable for people under 18 years.
We’ll meet at 10:30am in Beaufort, Victoria, finishing up the following morning.
