Join us for a Summer evening grasslands visit to the Laak Boorndap test garden for the new arts precinct and the Dodds Street linear park. Both in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.
Laak Boorndap is the 18,000 square-metre urban garden planned for the revamped Melbourne Arts Precinct. It will include native and exotic plantings designed to flower all year round, and is being created by landscape architects Hassell, US architects SO-IL, UK garden designers Nigel Dunnett and James Hitchmough, and Melbourne plant expert Jac Semmler of Super Bloom, plus a huge team of technical experts.
Head Gardener Russell Larke joined the team this year after many years with the Royal Botanic Gardens.
The details:
Meet at end of Russell St Extension next to the car park behind Fed Square (take steps up from Birrarung Marr playground area), three minutes’ walk from Flinders St station.
Then we walk to the City of Melbourne’s Dodds St linear park, which will link to Laak Boorndap, and that includes 1,300 square metres of meadow in raised and mounded beds.
Remember to dress sensibly for the weather and bring sunscreen and water!
This event is being run by the Grassy Plains Network.
