Bushwalk – Porcupine Ridge and Sebastopol Gully – Castlemaine area
Saturday, 9 December
On this 12km walk we’ll walk through the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park. Part of the route follows the Dry Diggings Track between Castlemaine and Daylesford.
There is a variety of forest types as well as topography. Although late in the season we should spot some wildflowers along the way. We’ll also have opportunities to stop and look for birds and other wildlife including, perhaps, the Imperial Hairstreak butterflies that breed in the area. We’ll also have a look at ruins from the gold mining era.
This medium difficulty walk begins approximately 130km west of Melbourne.
