Explore Braeside Park and its three distinct habitats on this 8km walk. Heath, grassy woodlands and wetlands.
We’ll be using public transport to explore this metropolitan park.
BYO lunch, water and wet weather gear (if the weather demands it). Sneakers will do for this walk.
The details
We’ll meet at 8.40am adjacent to the Baguette cafe on the Flinders St station concourse. We’ll then take the 8.50am train to Carrum, disembarking at Mentone at 9.30. Time for a coffee and a bite to eat if you wish, before we take the bus to Braeside Park, arriving at 10.45am.
We’ll walk for 8km through the park – please note the only toilets are “trees” until we reach our late lunch spot at the information centre. After lunch, there’s an option for those who have had enough walking to take a bus back to Mentone (note it is an hourly bus service).
For the rest of us, it’s a further 3km walk through Dingley Village. We’ll visit the tiny Rowan Woodland Flora and Fauna Reserve on the way. We’ll finish up at the Springvale Road bus service, which will take us to Springvale or Glen Waverley Stations.
This walk is being led by Bushwalking Program volunteer Darren McClelland. Please fill out the form below and they’ll be in touch with you with further details, including the start time.
