Celebrating 74 years of protecting nature together
Join us for our annual Get Together and AGM on the evening of Tuesday 20 October 2026.
The evening will feature a presentation from Executive Director Matt Ruchel, reflecting on his 20 years at VNPA, as well as presentations from campaigners and activities staff, prior to the formal AGM proceedings. There will also be time to meet staff, fellow VNPA members and enjoy drinks and nibbles before the event begins.

Nominations for the VNPA Council are now open to VNPA members who’d like to participate in the governance of the organisation. Note that at our Special General Meeting earlier this year, several changes to our constitution were agreed, including to change from a ‘Council’ to a ‘Board’ in 2027 – for more information, please see our Special General Meeting page.
The Council (and in the future Board) plays an important role in the life of VNPA – establishing policy guidelines, undertaking strategic planning and approving annual budgets.
We are particularly keen to recruit Council members with legal, fundraising, communications, campaigns, advocacy and/or nature activity experience.

Our Council is supported by a number of active sub-committees that harness the enthusiasm of members and staff on key areas including: Finance; Governance, Legal & Policy; Conservation & Campaigns; Strategic Communications & Fundraising; Citizen Science & Nature Education and Bushwalking. We’re keen to recruit new Board and committee members with legal, fundraising, communications, science, advocacy, education or community engagement experience – from a range of backgrounds that reflect our diverse and multicultural society.
