VNPA Annual general meeting 2025

Members and supporters are warmly invited to the Victorian National Parks Association’s 73rd Annual General Meeting. 

Our program will include:

  • Drinks and canapes and an opportunity to meet VNPA Councillors and staff.
  • Welcome to Country from a Wurundjeri elder.
  • Guest speaker: Felicity Brooke, speaking on “Protecting the legacy and future of national parks: Parks Manager perspectives”.
  • Special Presentations from: Matt Ruchel (Executive Director) and Kade Mills (ReefWatch Coordinator) representing the Community Learning & Engagement program.
  • AGM formalities, chaired by VNPA President, David Nugent. This includes the election of Council: President, Vice President, Treasure, Secretary and Councillors

Our Guest Speaker: Felicity Brooke

Felicity Brooke is the President of the Victorian Protected Areas Council (VPAC) and will speak on “Protecting the legacy and future of national parks: Parks Manager perspectives”.

VPAC is a professional body, formed by a group of retired and former park staff to share their independent advice and expertise, and advocate for improved resourcing and management of the special places Victorians love and enjoy.

Felicity has 37 years in protected area management, across three regions of the state, beginning as a park planner, then ranger, ranger in charge, program operations manager and finally coordinator of interpretation, information, and education. She is committed to the role of the ranger and national park management being multi-disciplinary and holistic.

Nominations for Council are now open to VNPA Members who would like to participate in the governance of the organisation. The Council plays an important role in the life of VNPA – establishing policy guidelines, approving annual budgets and undertaking strategic planning. To nominate for Council, you must be a current financial member and indicate your intentions by writing to Matt Ruchel, Executive Director, via [email protected] by 5pm on Tuesday 23 September 2025.
