Join Save Western Port Woodlands for a bird walk at The Gurdies Nature Conservation Reserve.
Join Dave and Jackie on an intriguing walk into a part of the Gurdies unlike any other. It starts with a walk along the Telstra cable track, where you’ll spot orchids and wildflowers, before you enter a magical place with a pretty creek, ferns, fungi and moss.
You’ll need to be reasonably agile for this one as there’s a bit of bush bashing due to fallen branches and trees from the February storm.
No promises but a powerful owl was seen here earlier this year so bring your binocular!
The walk will be about 4km return at a leisurely pace. But you can turn back when you’ve had enough.
Park at the picnic/parking area off the Bass Highway near Pioneer Bay.
No need to book, just come along.
After your walk, you can head to the Grantville Hall at 12.30pm for a free concert featuring Australian ukulele master AJ Leonard and cellist Jenny Rowlands, bluesman Doc White, Tim O’Brien, Rick Sands from the Sand Brothers, and local acoustic trio Keachange.
