CaLD activist for community and nature

The Grassy Plains Network is looking for a person from the Vietnamese community in the Brimbank area to lead community participation and attendance at our 2026 Spring Fling Event.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a community member to increase their understanding of our local native grasslands, gain skills, help protect a critically endangered habitat and strengthen their community’s engagement with nature locally.

You’ll do five training days to discover what makes our remnant native grasslands so special and worth protecting.

You’ll develop an activity/resources/event highlight that’s delivered at Spring Fling 2026. This should be appealing to the Vietnamese community, explore cultural connections, and promote the beauty of grasslands in the west of Melbourne.

The CaLD activist for community and nature will be employed through VNPA at a rate of $41 per hour for a total of 48 hours ($1968). A small budget is available for the purchase of resources to develop an activity at the event.

Requirements:

  • Evidence of strong positive connections to the Vietnamese community in the Brimbank area (or the west of Melbourne).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead community-based activities.
  • Genuine interest in nature in the local Brimbank area and more broadly.
  • Availability to participate in 5 training days (dates to be negotiated), including one night-time activity.
  • Availability to attend and participate in Spring Fling 2026, 12:00–4:00pm, Sunday 11 October.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work as part of a team.

Please send your application, outlining how you meet the position requirements, to:
Adrian Marshall (Facilitator, Grassy Plains Network, VNPA) [email protected]

Applications due by Sunday 5 July 2026.

Grassy Plains Network is part of the Victorian National Parks Association (VNPA).
