We are yet to see results from Parks Victoria’s consultation on its plan to increase action on the thousands of feral horses trampling the Alpine National Park, but it seems public support has been considerable, thanks to people like you.
Thanks, too, to Parks Victoria and the Environment Minister, for overseeing such an evidence-based process in developing the plan.
The plan is yet to be implemented, however, and it will need appropriate resourcing of funds and expertise if it is to bring much needed relief to the park’s endangered peat beds, wetlands and other ecosystems.
The park also needs serious action on a threat facing most of regional Victoria – feral deer. Is it too much to hope for that the Environment Department’s efforts to come up with a deer control strategy will see a reversal of deer impacts as well?
