The Great Victorian Fish Count is almost here and that means it’s time for our annual fishy presentation night!
Join us as we shine a light on what’s washing into our bays and how we can keep them healthy. Plus, we’ll journey through reefs few people ever see – the mesophotic reefs of eastern Australia.
Speakers:
Jackie Myers will wade us through where chemicals are coming from, how they’re getting into our coastal waters and how we can keep our waterways healthy. Jackie is a senior research fellow at RMIT in the Aquatic Environmental Stress research group.
Joel Williams will swim us through his research to reveal the secrets of rarely glimpsed mesophotic reefs. Joel is a Senior Lecturer in Quantitative Marine Ecology at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, Ecology and Biodiversity.
Kade Mills will dive into Great Victorian Fish Count results from the past 10 years. Plus, he’ll tell us about this year’s theme and fishes you can find close to home. Kade is the ReefWatch Coordinator at Victorian National Parks Association.
