How good are trees and grassland together? Epping Cemetery is an almost unused settler cemetery in Melbourne’s north with amazing grassland and Red Gum Grassy Woodland. It has ten types of native grasses and six types of lillies, including one of the largest populations of nationally Endangered Matted Flax-lily in Australia.
Entrance and parking is off O’Hearnes Road.
After checking out Epping Cemetery, we’ll head up the road to the Aurora estate, which has a number of small stony rises and woodland well-integrated into new residential development.
Bring closed footwear, appropriate gear for the weather and water/snacks as needed or desired.
