Caitlin

Caitlin has worked as a committed environmentalist for a number of years and has a passionate interest in community and personal relationships to the natural environment. She has worked as an ecological consultant at Practical Ecology and as an environmental educator with the Gould League of Victoria. Caitlin has a Bachelor of Science in conservation biology and ecology and is currently doing her masters in social ecology.

Carrie Deutsch is a project officer with the Victoria Naturally Alliance, a coalition of nine environment groups working together to protect and restore biodiversity in Victoria. The alliance is led by the VNPA.

Karen cut her teeth trying to stop the damming of Lake Pedder in Tasmania and is now working hard to make Victoria's biodiversity crisis a BBQ stopper. "If we keep clearing what is left of our native vegetation and with the climate crisis bearing down then our kids, let alone our grandchildren, just won't see the Victorian landscapes we do."



Matt Ruchel

Matt Ruchel began in his role as VNPA Executive Director in July 2007. He has a strong skill base and on-ground knowledge of the Victorian environmental scene from his experience in his past roles, most recently at ACF where he was Manager Land and Water, and Acting Campaigns/Strategies Manager. His duties have included coordinating the ACF's role in the Victoria Naturally project. Before this he worked for almost ten years with Greenpeace Australia and Greenpeace International as a campaigner, team leader and project manager, working mostly on toxic pollution and waste issues. This was followed by three years with Hume City Council as Manager - City Sustainability and Environment Coordinator, where he coordinated a team of 10-15 staff undertaking conservation planning, sustainable rural land management, community greening and waste education activities. Matt brings exceptional strategic planning skills to his role of VNPA Executive Director and his experience is invaluable in his work to coordinate campaigns, liase with government, parliamentarians and a range of interest groups.

Megan Clinton

Megan Clinton leads VNPA's conservation work and our committed team of conservation staff to ensure the implementation of our 2020 Strategic Plan. She is responsible for representing the organisation externally to all levels of government, industry and the community while actively building partnerships. She coordinates the organsiation's new Nature Conservation Review (2010) which is investigating how to build biodiversity resilience in the face of climate change.

Michael Howes oversees the VNPA's book publishing, marketing and sales, and edits our quarterly ParkWatch magazine, Nature's Voice newsletter and Annual Report.

Nick Roberts seeks to increase the protection of public river frontages, riparian and wetland habitat and improve conservation management of River Red Gum forests.



Paige Shaw

Paige Shaw comes to us from Canada, where she worked for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources on policy and as a production and planning biologist. She also worked with the Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary in Ghana, looking at community involvement in eco-tourism initiatives.

Phil Ingamells runs the VNPA's Park Protection Project, aimed at radically improving management of Victoria's national parks and reserves, particularly in the face of climate change. He has a special interest in environmental education, and national park management issues.



Shanti Fowler

Shanti Fowler oversees the day to day financial matters for the organisation as well as participating in longer term budgeting and financial planning. She also oversees the general operations including HR for volunteers & staff, office management and IT.



Wendy Roberts

Reef Watch Co-ordinator

Wendy oversees the ReefWatch program, which aims to increase our knowledge of Victoria's reef ecosystems by assisting Victorian divers and snorkellers to identify, record and share their observations about the marine life they see at their favourite reefs.
