All we want for Christmas is a plan for our Fairy Possum
In the lead-up to Christmas Santa's a very popular man, everybody's vying for his attention and everybody has a special gift request.
Well, this year we'd like to take a bit of heat off Santa by asking Australia's environment minister, Josh Frydenberg, to lend a hand by personally delivering to Victorians one very special gift, a plan to save our critically endangered Leadbeater's Possum.
It shouldn't be too hard, a draft plan to save Victoria's faunal emblem - also known as the Fairy Possum - was released in February this year, all Josh has to do is set it in motion.
Josh's special Christmas gift to the people of Victoria could be the tiny Leadbeater's Possum's last hope. In January 2014 it was pushed into the critically endangered list, that's just one step away from extinction.
This is an emergency. We need a Leadbeater's Possum Recovery Plan now to make sure Victoria's faunal emblem is safe from the threats that are pushing it towards extinction!
