Planning process failing Victoria's alpine parks

The VNPA has received legal advice confirming our fears that the current planning process for national parks in Victoria's alpine region is unlawful under the National Parks Act.

We have been concerned with the lack of detail in management plans for Victoria's national parks for many years now, and have very serious concerns with Parks Victoria's new process to develop a landscape-scale management plan for parks in the alpine region, and then for the rest of the state.


We are not at all confident that the very serious threats to biodiversity in Victoria have been, and will be, handled with the rigour and scientific expertise the task requires.

We wrote to the Secretary of Victoria's what was then the Department of Sustainability and Environment about these concerns, which are also outlined in our Alpine issues paper, which you can download below.
