Riparian land

The land abutting Victoria's streams, rivers and creeks is critical to the health not just of our waterways but also the frogs, fish, birds and other forms of life found there.

In the past we have failed to protect riparian land from damaging uses such as uncontrolled stock grazing, but in October 2009 the Victorian Government had a chance to turn this situation around through the creation of new "Conservation Licences".

Sadly, it failed to do so.

 

Riverside Rescue report released

Riverside RescueOn World Rivers Day, 2011, the Victorian National Parks Association launched a report outlining how the State Government can repair rivers and improve water quality across Victoria.

The Brumby Government could face legal action if it fails to act on two recent reports detailing how its 'cows in rivers' policy poses serious risks to human health.

VNPA launches riverside land campaign

After his success in achieving park status for Victoria's River Red Gum areas, the VNPA's Nick Roberts is now working to protect riparian land throughout Victoria.
